Preventing disease and promoting health for all Ontarians.
These principles are the
basis for public health action. The late Dr. Sheela Basrur championed the role
of public health and its contributions to the health of the population. Her
legacy lives on at the Sheela Basrur Centre (SBC) where our programs make a
significant and lasting impact to support current and future public health leaders.
Both individual and
corporate donations help us build on Dr. Basrur’s legacy. Be a part of our key initiatives and
programs at the Centre. Donations
to the Centre support professional development activities for existing and
emerging public health professionals.
Why Donate?
To honour the legacy of Dr. Basrur, we need generous supporters like you to contribute to the Centre.
Help ensure our
successful public health professional development programs. SBC training programs
and awards are geared towards public health professionals and students, with a
focus on communications and leadership development. Your contribution means
professionals and students across Ontario can strengthen their skills to become
tomorrow’s public health leaders.
Our programs are essential
to the renewal of public health in Ontario.
As public health issues
continue to make headlines, our work in this sector is vital to the health and
well-being of all Ontarians. The knowledge and training acquired through our programs
and awards help to build capacity and strengthen the public health system in
Ontario.
Strong voices for public health. Leaders for change.
SBC creates strong voices with the ability to communicate
effectively on key issues and prepares the public health workforce to take on
challenging leadership roles.
Your donation
Keep Dr. Basrur’s legacy alive and strengthen our public
health leadership voices.
Your donation will support us in creating
growth within the sector, bolstering the next generation of public health
professionals. Contributions fund key initiatives and programs at the
Centre, ensuring the advancement of public health leaders in the province. Join the
leaders for change. Support the Sheela Basrur Centre.
Ways to Donate
To our programs
Your support goes furthest
when you allow us to apply it directly to our programs. This will also provide an
opportunity for you to witness the impact and reach of our awards and training
courses. In 2015, the Sherwin family
made a generous donation to the Centre’s student programs in honour of their
late aunt and former public health nurse, Alice Sherwin. Their donation has made
valuable international experiences and training possible for the next
generation of public health experts. Like the Sherwins, you can also donate to
our programs.
