2014 Communications Student Award Recipients
Queen's University Master of Public Health students, Alice and Anna, were selected as our winners at the Infectious Disease Surveillance Management for Public Health Workshop.
Four teams of finalists presented creative and engaging campaigns aimed at increasing vaccination rates among health care workers.
A panel of judges from both public health and communications disciplines awarded Alice and Anna for their campaign, “#IGotMyShotFor__”. Their campaign offered innovative communications strategies to engage health care workers in immunization programs.
The award offers a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge among public health professionals. After presenting their winning campaign, Alice and Anna received an offer to partner with the Brant County Health Unit. In fall 2014, the Brant County Health Unit will be implementing Alice and Anna's social media strategies within their flu clinics.
Both Yoshith and Delaney are currently enrolled at the Schulich Interfaculty Master of Public Health program at the University of Western Ontario. Their communications campaign "Clear the Air" was recognized for its creative ideas to raise awareness about the health risks of e-cigarettes, targeting the public and government policy decision-makers.
The "Clear the Air" campaign was showcased (in poster format) at TOPHC 2014, giving the duo an opportunity to speak with delegates about their communications strategies on this emerging public health issue.
Thank you to all the applicants for submitting creative and innovative e-cigarette campaigns.
